Macintosh Mail IMAP, MacOS X 10.11 El Capitan

Based on MacOS X 10.11 (El Capitan)


1. Open Apple Mail

2. Select menu "Mail" -> "Preferences..."
3. Click on the "+" at the lower left to add an account
4. Select "Add Other Email Account..." and click Continue
5. Enter:
   - Name (full name, as your recipients will see it)
   - Email Address (your full email address)
   - Password (your email password)

6. Click "Sign In," get back "Unable to verify account name and password" and enter:
   - Email Address (already entered from above)
   - User Name (leave blank, marked Automatic)
   - Password
(already entered from above)

   - Account type (popup menu) [IMAP] (may select POP if preferred)
   - Incoming Mail Server: secure.prxy.com
   - Outgoing Mail Server: secure.prxy.com
7. Click "Sign In"
8. Select the apps to use with this account:
   - check Mail
   - check Notes (if you wish to use Apple's Notes app, this will store your notes on the mail server)
8. Click "Done"

. Select the account from the list on the left
10. Click the "Account Information" tab and:
    - click the pop-up menu next to the Outgoing (SMTP) server selection and select the "Edit SMTP Server List..." option at the bottom.

Select the "Advanced" tab and uncheck "Automatically detect and maintain account settings."
 
   - Click OK to close that window.
11. Click "Mailbox Behaviors" tab.
   - Verify these settings: Check "Store ... messages on server" for Drafts, Sent, Junk and Trash.
   - For Trash, also check "Move deleted messages to the Trash Mailbox.
   - Select "Permanently erase deleted messages when: [Never]" (note that our server deletes email from the Trash folder after one month).
12. Select the "Advanced" tab and uncheck "Automatically detect and maintain account settings."

13. Close Preferences window and save change if prompted
14. Select the "Sent" folder in your prxy folder list and select menu Mailbox -> "Use This Mailbox As..." -> Sent Mailbox
15. Select the "Junk" folder in your prxy folder list and select menu Mailbox -> "Use This Mailbox As..." -> Junk Mailbox
16. Select the "Trash" folder in your prxy folder list and select menu Mailbox -> "Use This Mailbox As..." -> Trash Mailbox
