macOS 11.5 Catalina and prior back to 10.12 Sierra, instructions based on macOS X 11.4 Big Sur
1. Open Apple Mail
2. Select menu "Mail" -> "Add Account..." or menu "Mail" -> "Preferences..." and then click the Accounts icon, and then click "+" at the lower left to add an account
3. Select "Add Other Email Account..." or "Other Mail Account..." and click Continue
4. Enter:
- Name (full name, as your recipients will see it)
- Email Address (your full email address)
- Password (your email password)
5. Click "Sign In," get back "Unable to verify account name and password" and enter:
- Email Address (already entered from above)
- User Name (leave blank, marked Automatic)
- Password (already entered from above)
- Account type (popup menu) [IMAP] (may select POP if preferred)
- Incoming Mail Server: secure.prxy.com
- Outgoing Mail Server: secure.prxy.com
6. Click "Sign In"
7. Select the apps to use with this account:
- check Mail
- check Notes (if you wish to use Apple's Notes app, this will store your notes on the mail server)
8. Click "Done"
9. Select the account from the list on the left
10. Click "Mailbox Behaviors" tab.
- For IMAP accounts, verify that each folder has the online folder selected (click the folder pop-up menu and verify the selected folder is under your new account in the list) for Drafts, Sent, Junk and Trash (you may set the Archive folder to any folder you wish).
- For Trash and Junk (when present), also select "Erase deleted messages:" [Never] (note that our server deletes email from the Trash folder after one month).
11. Select the "Server Settings" tab and uncheck "Automatically manage connection settings" in two places, for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server.
12. Close Preferences window
