Outlook with ZCO sending blank emails

Please note: This only applies to Outlook users configured with the Zimbra Connector (ZCO).

UPDATE: A new ZCO fixes this issue. Please upgrade to 9.0.0.1939 or later. The latest ZCO is available in our downloads.

Some Outlook users configured with the ZCO have experienced sent emails are intermittently blank when using the recently updated Outlook build version 16.0.17029.20068 or later. They have reported resolution after reverting to version 16924.20150 which was released on November 14th.

There are two recommended actions. From Zimbra: The engineering team is still in the process of investigating and analyzing whether the issue is related to Microsoft Outlook or if there is another factor that can be addressed and fixed. For the time being, you can follow below two workarounds. 1) Advise the users to downgrade their Microsoft Outlook update, or 2) Switch off the autosave to draft feature.

1) The recommended temporary fix is to revert to the earlier Outlook version. We recommend you consult with your local IT support for assistance. Here are instructions from Micrsoft to roll back the Office version:

2) An alternative fix is related to the auto save drafts functionality. If you have not already rolled back the Office version, you may try disabling this feature by following these steps:
1. In Outlook, click on File at the top left.
2. Click on Options on the bottom left.
3. In the window that pops up, click on Mail in the left sidebar.
4. Scroll down to the "Save Messages" section.
5. Uncheck the box next to "Automatically save items that have not been sent after this many minutes:"
6. Click on "OK" at the bottom right. Please let us know if this workaround is effective for you, or if you continue to see blank emails after disabling auto save drafts.
